[Problem] Cant connect. Doesnt show anything.

Hello guys.. I'm having a problem connecting to every l2 server.
after i input my id and pass and presses enter, nothing works.. tried many times. MY FIREWALL IS OFF.
I did update hosts file.. (not the first time play l2).
What's the problem?

P.S: I made a full client update

Weekly maintenance is done on Tuesdays so that may very well be the problem.

I've tried 3 more servers - Same ISSUE.
Nothing happens after I click the login button.
Damn it!

BTW!!: When i ping in cmd -> l2authd.lineage2.com i get different IP from server.. which is timed-out.
That's the problem for sure, but why eventhough i edited hosts file i get that? =/

Yes that is because the Linage 2 servers are DOWN for mainenance so nothing can be updated and you cannot log in.

But as of now (11:30 AM) CDT it is up.

What's the connection between private and offical? When offical is down cant play in private servers?

Correct me if I am wrong admin, but when you click the icon to start the game, the system checks with the main lineage2 server for any file updates then allows you to connect if there are no updates. It is this process that goes offline when the main server at lineage 2 goes down.
Therefor, when you wish to play the game, you cannot log in if the update server cannot be found. :)

Because as I said, you should now be able to log in.

Check your password and username to make sure it is correct

I will log in (or try) and let you know the result.

Well it's not letting me log in at the moment either but at least it isn't tossing me back to the desktop as it was before

Ahah the L2godz server was also restarted :) that's why I can't get in now

So go vote if you haven't already then it might be up by the time you do that. :)

Sounds like you need to re-edit the hosts file, or at least check to make sure it's right.

It's not the first time i'm playing lineage 2. Just re-downloaded and made a fresh installation. What's your msn? :X (pm me).

This makes me wonder if there might be a problem somewhere in the net between you and the L2godz server.

Go to a command prompt and try tracert 72.81.211.3 and post the result, that may help admin see where the problem might be.

Are you having trouble getting to places like MSN.com or buy.com etc? if so, it's likely a problem with your ISP.

BTW they just restarted the L2godz server again.

What i think , is that my hosts file doesnt function or something. Maybe spybot s&d, or any other program that i've downloaded is blocking it usages..
I think what I think because:
1) I tried for example adding an ip which belongs to a known site and a name [IP, NAME].. when i put the name in the address box in browser, it should transfer to the site (for example: 139.142.214.23 lalala).
2) When i ping l2authd.lineage2.com I dont get the current ip which is located in the hosts file.

Any idea which programs might block the hosts file?

Admin correct me if im wrong please but I think that is because when you ping l2authd.lineage2.com you are pinging the actual Lineage2 server not the l2godz server which is located at 72.81.211.3 so in order to ping the l2godz server correctly, you must ping 72.81.211.3

Have you installed any firewall software?

Also do a virus scan and it may also be that the hosts file isnt saving correctly.

What version of windows do you have?

Using Windows XP Pro SP2, Version 2002.
Turned Off Windows firewall (Only firewall atm).
Made maleware and Viruses scan (AVG).
Maybe a format will help? :/

I am leaning towards a format yes, if for some odd reason the computer you were playing on just fine suddenly quits playing the game, then something has changed somewhere and it could virtually be anywhere.

Sure, formatting is a P.I.B. but unless admin here has something else to suggest, you might want to try a system restore back to a time when it was working, otherwise a format would be my course of action at this point.

By the way, nothing against AVG but no antivirus program is going to catch all problems as I am sure you know. :)
